Ethics outside of morals: Modern German humanism

The article reviews the ethics of evolutionary humanism, as expressed in works modern German philosopher and critic religion Michael Schmidt-Salomon. Drawing on results biological sciences, he provides his own interpretation sociobiological meaning altruism egoism foundations human ethics. Appealing to philosophical tradition, finds support views Epicurus who considered being connected within nature, saw altruistic acts rooted egoism. As a part concept Schmidt-Salomon presents an alternative biblical Ten Commandments form recommendations “for happy life”. His theory also includes kind “categorical imperative”, which strongly resembles Marxist formulation humanism: “destroy all relationships poses humiliated, enslaved, abandoned solitary being”.
